Nov 16-22

A recent discussion where I tried to persuade others into accepting my point of view was about global warming and how it not only affects climate change, but how it affects atmospheric carbon dioxide levels to increase, which leads to higher global temperatures and change in humans normal activities. I was explaining to them that global warming is a FACT and is changing our lives gradually. My friends disagreed with me saying that it is just something that is irregular that has happened to be happening for some years now. The types of reasoning I used were cause-and-effect and conditional reasoning with this discussion. My reasoning actually worked and I gave my friends a better understanding of my points of view after the discussion.

Yes, I do think that global warming is in fact changing our lives slowly. Because of the rapid change in temperature in the polar regions of the world, the ice caps are melting. Thus, the level of the sea is rising. Soon, the oceans will be 20 feet higher than before. Very serious argument. Trying to use cause and effect argument can be the most useful type that one can present to an audience. I think that learning to present these statements in a clear and concise manner as well as understanding the structure of these arguments will be important. As we learn about these different types of argument, we can mix and match in order to relevantly support the view of the topic that we have. I hope that everyone's arguements for our final speech will be have solid arguements and not gibberish.
